This month, we passed a historic piece of legislation designed to improve the lives of millions of Americans. The Inflation Reduction Act represents our largest investment in climate policy to date, with the goal of reducing carbon emissions by 40 percent by 2030. It creates millions of well-paying union jobs to manufacture clean energy equipment. It allows Medicare to negotiate drug prices for the first time ever, easing the burden of prescription drug costs on our seniors.
This legislation has been a long time coming. It offers hope for a brighter future for our children and grandchildren. It’s the sort of change that, while not instant, is palpable.
We’re making great progress, but there’s still a great deal more for us to do. I will continue to use my platform in Congress to push for the solutions our country needs: cutting our dependence on fossil fuels; providing quality, affordable healthcare and education; and creating an equitable playing field for working families. But to do that, I need your support.
