According to Pakistan Climate Minister Sherry Rehman, one-third of the country has been completely submerged. Rehman called current flooding a “crisis of unimaginable proportions.”
The Government of Pakistan established the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund 2022 and is accepting donations. On Saturday, the U.K. government announced a plan to allocate up to $1.8 million for flood relief efforts. The U.S. and the United Arab Emirates have also contributed aid and the United Nations is set to launch a $161 million flash appeal for Pakistan on Tuesday, but officials say more help is needed.

The Department of Transportation recently announced a new proposal that, among other changes, would more specifically outline when a passenger is entitled to compensation for “significant” schedule changes or delays to their flight. The agency also announced a planned website to more easily show different airlines’ policies regarding cancellations and delays.
Currently, airlines are not legally bound to give customers any sort of refund or compensation for delayed or canceled flights, but many try to accommodate passengers.
