Just this year, more than 1,500 people have been shot in Philadelphia — over 350 homicides.
Yet, the Pennsylvania state legislature is making it near impossible for city authorities to pass common-sense legislation — but Councilmember Green refuses to let up. He’s working with local law enforcement and offering common-sense legislation to keep our streets safe.
Derek’s efforts to build safer communities are only made possible by the grassroots support of people like you. Our team is still $1,900 short of our August fundraising goal — can you chip in just $10 today to get us where we need to be?
We are experiencing a gun violence epidemic in Philadelphia, and we cannot go another moment without lifesaving gun legislation.
In the face of the gun violence crisis, Councilmember Green is bringing real solutions to the table — Derek’s recruitment bill will increase the number of police cadets to address the police staffing crisis. Additionally, his body armor bill will close a loophole in unregistered weapons sales by ensuring that body armor purchases are reported and prevent these senseless tragedies from ever occurring.
He has also successfully fought to waive Philadelphia’s police residency requirement to address our city’s police shortage and he’s working with local law enforcement to strengthen community relations and accountability.
