Our Constitution is seen as a great liberty document, but how does it really work? This Constitution Day we will explore how various government officials understand their role vis-à-vis the American people, their communities, and the Constitution. How does the Constitution protect our rights? What do the various branches and States have to do with it? Is this complicated system really the best? What role do we play? Check the website for updates and to sign up for the livestream on Friday, September 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET.

The freedom of assembly is one of the basic liberties Americans possess. One of the most common forms of assembly is a protest. While the Constitution clearly protects the right to protest, debates and discussions about the limits of this right recur often. Over the past several years, these debates have resurfaced as Americans have come together to protest for rights, justice, and freedoms they believe have been denied or abridged. What do your students think? Is the right to protest in the U.S. adequately protected? Encourage them to join the latest debate for a chance to win gift cards and swag for you and them!

We hope that you and your students will explore the U.S. Constitution with the Bill of Rights Institute on Friday, September 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET. Through various interviews and conversations, we will examine the Constitution and the people who put it to work every day. Each interview will include viewing guides and we will have a lesson activity for your students that will deploy the knowledge they learn from each interview.

Join us for a few minutes or the entire day! We will be packing each segment with information targeted directly at your students, inviting them to think about the principles of equality and liberty, their individual rights, how each of these are protected in the Constitution, and how it all plays out in practice.
