Week-in-Review
Dear Mr. xxxxxx,
As I begin another busy week in Texas, I wanted to pass along my latest update on what I have been doing to fight for you, Texas’ 21st Congressional district, and our country as a whole:
Supporting American energy:
Several of my House colleagues and I were pleased to meet with ERCOT board members in Austin last week! We discussed policies impacting Texas' energy grid, and how Texas can ensure reliability in all conditions. Texas must lead and stop federal and state subsidies for unreliable energy generation from weakening our grid.
Advocating for our veterans:
I recently learned that it took the VA months to fire an employee who brutally beat and choked an elderly veteran, after the VA finally responded to my letter demanding answers on this violent attack. If this vicious assault had happened in the private sector, the employee would have been fired on the spot.
This is one of the reasons why I introduced H.R. 8550, the Public Service Reform Act. We have a duty to ensure bad employees like the one at the VA can be fired immediately. The American people deserve better and our veterans deserve better. As a member of the House Veterans Affairs committee, I'll continue working on behalf of all the heroic men and women who served America.
Calling out President Biden's offensive and immoral student loan bailout:
I also spoke out against President Biden's offensive and immoral student loan bailout. Biden's student loan bailout is a slap in the face to veterans and all Americans who worked to pay for their college education or chose not to attend. I condemned this bailout in an interview with Dan Bongino last week. You can listen by clicking here.
Focused on the border:
On Wednesday, I joined Sean Hannity to discuss our worsening border crisis that has devastating consequences for American communities and the migrants who seek to come here.
Tragedies happen every day at the southern border - in fact, one time I watched a migrant family nearly die trying to cross the Rio Grande. Congress needs to stop the crisis by passing legislation to require DHS and ICE to enforce US border security laws, build the wall, and target cartels.
You can watch my full interview with Sean Hannity by clicking here.
Here are some news stories about what I’ve been up to lately:
