Good morning,

An investigation by a state representative found medical schools in Texas are actively teaching procedures for the “gender transition” of children by surgically altering and sterilizing them. This week’s One Click Survey asks your opinion of that.

Here is the Texas Minute for Tuesday, August 30, 2022.

POLL: New Texas Voters Prefer GOP As Texas experiences an influx of newly registered voters, a new poll shows Republicans leading by nearly 20 percent among those new registrants. Brandon Waltens has the details [[link removed]].

A poll performed by CWS Research and commissioned by the Defend Texas Liberty PAC shows 59 percent of those newly registered intend to vote Republican in the fall, with 41 percent leaning Democrat.

When asked about current issues [[link removed]], the results appear to be even brighter for Texas Republicans. Sixty-two percent of new registered voters believe puberty blockers should be banned for minors in Texas, 65 percent believe we should ban taxpayer subsidies for illegals, and 71 percent believe that employers should not have the right to fire an employee based on their vaccine status.

“It’s clear that new registered voters are ready to help us keep Texas red and support a bold conservative cultural agenda in 2023,” said Jonathan Stickland [[link removed]], the founder of the Defend Texas Liberty PAC.

Setting Curriculum: The State Board of Education With a renewed focus on classroom curriculum and education standards, and the potential for a radical rewrite of Texas’ social studies program, Sebastian Castro explains [[link removed]] the role of the State Board of Education.

The SBOE is composed of elected officials from 15 geographically drawn districts in Texas. Currently, nine of the SBOE districts are represented by Republicans, and six SBOE districts are represented by Democrats.

Among their responsibilities, the SBOE sets the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills – the basis for classroom education in all grade levels.

Public testimony is expected today on the proposed social studies TEKS at the SBOE meeting at the Texas Education Agency building in Austin.

Don’t know who represents you on the SBOE? Check out the directory [[link removed]]. Freedom Caucus Demands SBOE Fix Proposed TEKS Count the Texas House’s Freedom Caucus among those wanting the SBOE to make big fixes to the proposed TEKS changes. Sydnie Henry has the details [[link removed]].

In a letter to SBOE chairman Keven Ellis [[link removed]] (R), the chairman of the Freedom Caucus – State Rep. Mayes Middleton (R-Wallisville) – described [[link removed]] many of the SBOE’s proposed changes as “unacceptable and in many cases illegal.”

Among other things, the SBOE is tentatively slated to abolish Texas history as a stand-alone class, while adding LGBTQ “pride” indoctrination.

Middleton says the new seventh-grade standard requiring students to consider “different perspectives on the siege of the fall of the Alamo” is the “most substantial disgrace,” as it will “pollut[e] the minds of Texas children by asking them to consider the perspective of the murderous tyrant Santa Anna at the Alamo.”

As noted above, the SBOE will conduct a public hearing today (8/30) in Austin on the proposed standards.

Antifa Supplies Armed Thugs At Drag Event If ever you wondered about the alliances of the left….

A drag show targeting kids in Roanoke this past weekend featured armed and masked “guards” of Antifa members. Katy Drollinger has the details [[link removed]].

Political commentator Sara Gonzales and investigative journalist Tayler Hansen estimated that more than 20 children attended the sold-out drag brunch on Sunday. Gonzales also reported several safety concerns surrounding the event, including fire code violations and staff providing minors with “drinking-age verified” wristbands.

While at the drag brunch, Hansen recorded his conversation with a Keller ISD middle school teacher who said several of the district’s teachers removed social media posts promoting the event after receiving backlash. Notably, the teacher complained about the school board’s decision to review library books for explicit material.

“This sexualized and grotesque event encouraged kids of all ages to show up and participate. Remember, the only thing necessary for evil to thrive is for good men to do nothing! Texans, rip your heads out of the sand and get involved,” said the president of Texas Family Project, Chris Hopper, who was among those protesting the Roanoke event. U.T. Endowment Set To Surpass Harvard The University of Texas’ endowment fund – based as it is on public land in the Lone Star State – is set to become the largest in the world. Adam Cahn reports revenues [[link removed]] from state lands average $6 million per day.

U.T. is using the money, in part, to attack the oil and gas industry that makes it so wealthy. The school has hosted events promoting “Environmental, Social, and Governance” standards used to blacklist energy producers.

Recently, U.T. partnered with BlackRock to host an ESG program. BlackRock [[link removed]] was named last week [[link removed]] by Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar as a company boycotting oil and gas companies. Number of the Day

1.1 Million

Number of new voters added to the Texas rolls since the general election in November 2020. (This is the equivalent of adding the total populations of Wyoming and Vermont.)
