Register Here Webinar | Back to School: The State of Education in Wisconsin A new school year is upon Wisconsin families; but as many parents already know, students are continuing to struggle since the pandemic arrived in 2020. The education establishment and some politicians want to gaslight families into believing that problems like learning loss and chronic absenteeism have melted away. In a new policy brief- “The State of Education in Wisconsin”- WILL Research Director, Dr. Will Flanders, takes a candid look at how Wisconsin’s K-12 system is really doing. Join Dr. Flanders and WILL’s Director of Education Policy, Libby Sobic, on September 7th, 2022, at 11:30 AM for a presentation and discussion on his findings. 📄 Learn more about the policy brief here. 📉 Utilize WILL's School Scorecard Dashboard to see how your local schools compare with others. 🍎 Check out WILL's Restoring American Education project here. Register Here Media Mentions | WILL Letter Warning La Crosse Over First Amendment Violation Last week, WILL Attorneys issued a public letter to the La Crosse Common Council warning that a recently passed city ordinance violates free speech, religious liberty, and parental rights guarantees in the state and federal constitutions. The City of La Crosse is currently reconsidering the recently adopted Ordinance No. 5220, which bans a significant amount of speech on issues of sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity. WILL’s letter explains why the prohibitions in the ordinance unconstitutionally restrict the scope of speech from clergy, parents, or licensed mental-health counselors, are impermissibly vague, and are preempted by state law. 🗯 WILL Deputy Counsel, Anthony LoCoco, stated "So, the central problem with this ordinance is that it violates the First Amendment, and that's true regardless of whether it applies only when money is changing hands or if it applies to priests and parents who may provide guidance to children who come to them for help". 🎙 Listen to interviews about the issue at hand from both Anthony LoCoco on WCLO and President and General Counsel, Rick Esenberg, on WIZM - La Crosse. 🗞 Read articles from The Center Square and Wisconsin Public Radio about WILL's recent legal action.
