John --
Last week - on a day meant to celebrate Women’s Equality Day on the
steps of City Hall - a
group of anti-abortion protestors showed up to interrupt the
proceedings. These protestors were emboldened to travel across the
country to try and shout down a diverse and accomplished assembly of
women in San Francisco politics, because of our commitment to equity
and protecting women.
We were gathered to encourage increased voter registration from
women in the coming election cycle, and yet these protestors thought
it was appropriate to try and shout us down. They are afraid of the
power we wield and know that the only way to maintain control is to
shut us out of the decision-making process. We will not be silenced;
we will not be controlled.
I will never stop advocating for women’s rights, particularly in
the face of oppression.
If we show up, we win.
Sincerely,
Catherine Stefani
