Folks -- before I served in the halls of Congress or stood with the late Rep. John Lewis at the Edmund Pettus Bridge, I was a little girl growing up in Selma, Alabama.
If you had told that little girl – a sharecropper’s granddaughter -- growing up in Alabama’s Black Belt that she would one day be fighting against injustice at the highest level of government, I’m not sure she would have believed you. But as the years went by, the call to serve this beautiful community became overwhelming.
Now, it is the honor of my life to serve Alabama in Congress.
But right now, in a year when the GOP is projected take back the House majority, I need your help. This is the last-standing Democratic district in Alabama, and I’m up against my first GOP opponent in nearly a decade. Will you chip in to help me defend AL-07? [[link removed]]

The thing about my story is that it could only have happened right here in America. It was Selma that lifted me up and strengthened my love for Alabama.

It’s no secret that we’re up against the biggest threat to our democracy in generations. Voter suppression is on the rise, and our rights are continuously being chipped away. And if you’ve been paying attention, you’re probably as frustrated and ready for progress as I am. But that progress can only happen if we fight for it.
