John,
Today is Jim Brady's birthday. It's a bittersweet day here at Brady, as we cherish memories of Jim's life and celebrate his work. Though Jim is no longer with us physically, his spirit lives on in gun violence survivors like me, who work every day to build a safer country, and in activists like you too, John.
Ending gun violence once and for all was Jim Brady's life work – a legacy we carry to this day. In honor of that commitment, we're calling on 20,000 gun safety activists to recommit to fighting for life-saving gun reforms today, Jim's birthday. Will you add your name to our official pledge right now and join the fight to end gun violence?

We're making progress in our battle against the gun lobby and breaking the NRA’s ironclad grip on Congress and we need to keep the momentum going. This year, President Biden signed into law the most important gun safety reforms in decades and the House passed an assault weapons ban for the first time since its original passage (back when Jim was fighting for it).
But the NRA will continue to fight us every step of the way. The gun lobby still wields great authority over politicians: Mitch McConnell, Ted Cruz, and Senate Republicans refuse to even consider common-sense legislation that would expand background checks and ban assault weapons.
But with gun safety champions in the White House and in Congress, the time to fight back is now, and there's no better time to officially pronounce your support for gun violence prevention legislation than Jim Brady's birthday.
Please, John, we've set a goal to get 20,000 gun safety activists to honor Jim Brady's birthday by signing our pledge before midnight: Will you add your name and commit to ending gun violence right now?
