Great things happen when you have an ID

Meet Ronald and Rhonda, two of our Los Angeles clients.
You may remember Rhonda, I wrote about her a few months ago when, after many months of work we finally got her an ID. Rhonda was living in a tent on Skid Row as a deaf, black woman and we were incredibly worried about her safety. She had a great case manager but without an ID she couldn't get safe housing. So imagine my joy when Rhonda came to see me last week and wrote me that note.
She has a home!
Rhonda just moved into a new apartment complex built to provide safe housing for unhoused Angelenos and she is thrilled. She was so excited to show me her apartment number and we even got her a new ID with her new address. This is the dream that so many of our clients have and I am so excited that Rhonda is living it!
I also got great news from Ronald this week. Ronald is a Navy veteran who was living in his van in the parking lot of the VA hospital when I met him. He needed a new driver's license, which I was able to help him with, but he also needed a phone for which he needed his ID and also his bank card, which he hadn't been able to get the bank to mail him without his ID and an address. I let him use my address and when I dropped off the card he asked me to drop him at TMobile.
The next day he texted me from his new phone!
And today he sent me a picture in his new work uniform!
Ronald is so excited to be working and is already working on how to save for a new apartment. I am so thrilled for him.
Getting an ID is just the first step to starting a new life. I love celebrating all of the milestones that help our clients get closer and closer to living the lives they deserve. So far we have celebrated over 9200 IDs. Thank you so much for making these moments possible. Let's get to 10,000.
