John, the number
of attacks and threats against our progressive District Attorneys have
never been higher.
That’s why we have set a goal of raising $25,000 before August 31st at
midnight. [ [link removed] ]We’ll explain why we decided on that number but if you’re in
the know and have seen all the work we have been doing to elect and defend
DAs across the country, will you be one of the first folks to donate
towards our goal?

In our post-Roe world, states are beginning to crack down on abortion
access. We’ve seen it in states from Texas to South Dakota. MILLIONS of
people who can get pregnant are at risk.
But who is going to protect them, or the provider, if they do seek out an
abortion? It’s first and foremost going to be the DA in that county.
And as DAs are already beginning to stand up for the people they represent
— they are being retaliated against.
We told you about one of the more publicized instances of this where Gov.
Ron Desantis suspended a Florida State Attorney for stating he would not
use the resources of his office to prosecute women seeking abortions, the
doctors that provide them, and also doctors who provide gender affirming
care to transgender people.
It’s a blatant abuse of power — but DeSantis isn’t the first and won’t be
the last to pull these kinds of stunts. In Texas, the legislature wants to
pass a law that would allow DAs in neighboring counties to prosecute
abortion cases if DAs refuse.
And let’s be clear: conservative leaders were already doing everything in
their power to take down our DAs before Roe v. Wade was even overturned.
We saw how conservative mega-donors poured millions into San Francisco to
recall Chesa Boudin. Recall efforts are also underway against our DAs in
Virginia, and New York conservatives are trying to pass a law to allow
recall efforts against DAs.
And now, with no federal protections in place protecting abortions,
conservative leaders are going to be doing everything they can to take
down our pro-choice DAs.
Here at Real Justice, we’re not only working to protect our pro-civil
rights DAs, but are working to elect even more this year to strengthen
their fight with more allies.
These efforts have concrete results. A few weeks back, we helped civil
rights champion Steve Mulroy defeat an anti-choice conservative DA in
Memphis who promoted mass incarceration and also tried to jail a Black
woman for voting.
Every single race we get involved in and every single attack we fight
against to defend our prosecutors means more resources that will get
harder and harder to afford unless we meet our fundraising goals.
To be honest, fundraising has been down, and during this pivotal moment
for progressive DAs, we can’t afford to slow down. That’s why we set our
ambitious goal of hitting $25,000.
[ [link removed] ]So please, we are counting on grassroots donations to make sure we
have the financial foundation we need to fight harder than ever in the
months to come. Can you help us chip away at our End of Month goal with a
donation right now, John?
Thank you for your support,
Real Justice
