Frankly, it’s no wonder why.

The current homelessness epidemic is reaching a crisis pointand at the heart of this crisis are human lives.

Between 2011 to 2019, despite an increase in spending of 132%, the number of people experiencing homelessness exploded by 52%.

This is completely unacceptable. The time for change is now.

Fortunately, a transformational, proven solution to the homelessness crisis exists…and our documentary explains how it works. Watch the trailer or WATCH THE FULL-LENGTH FILM BELOW:
Beyond Homeless shows how the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) policy, called Housing First, shifted the government’s focus from emergency shelters and transitional housing to permanent housing for the homeless.

Besides being extraordinarily expensive, this housing takes a long, long time to build. It also diverts money away from more important resources for the homeless — such as mental health services, addiction services, and physical health services.

Mary Theroux, Independent Institute’s chairman, CEO, and host of Beyond Homeless, was recently interviewed by The Epoch Times on major findings of the documentary
“You have to address what put [people] into homelessness, or what’s keeping them in homelessness, in order to resolve it, and … four walls don’t do that. You’re just taking homeless persons and putting them inside, so they remain culturally homeless, and you’re not helping them.

We really need to be providing people with the resources to escape that slavery and achieve their full potentials as human beings.

We don’t want people thinking that it’s the government’s job to take care of each other. It’s our job to take care of each other,” said Theroux.

She has worked extensively to relieve the plight of homelessness in San Francisco, often blazing a trail where politicians and bureaucrats have shamefully taken paths of least resistance.
