John,
Anti-abortion extremists want to dismantle online free speech. So today, we’re launching a campaign to stop their censorship offensive in its tracks. Act now: stop anti-abortion activists from controlling the net.
Across the country, anti-abortion lawmakers are trying to block abortion content from the internet. This is a red alert for free speech—even one act of government censorship puts all of our speech under threat. Sign now to tell state and federal lawmakers to block new censorship bills and protect Section 230.
TAKE ACTION
In South Carolina, a bill was recently introduced that would make it illegal to share abortion information online, or operate a platform that hosts abortion information.1 If passed, this bill would place South Carolina in the dark ages of mass-scale government censorship. South Carolina’s bill was drafted by a national anti-abortion think tank—so copycat bans will very likely be introduced in other states.
Nationally, the precarious legal environment has already pushed Facebook and Instagram to take down posts containing abortion content, even in states where abortion is still legal.2, 3 This goes to show that we need legislative action to protect free speech NOW. And we need lawmakers to vocally support Section 230, which is the only backstop preventing widespread censorship by platforms.4
Check here to see if your state is trying to censor abortion information. Then sign and share our petition. We need to make abortion censorship a major issue before more of these frightening bills advance. That begins with making noise.
In solidarity,
Anna at ❤️Fight
