Friend, New York Times wrote an article a few days ago about how the phrase “American Dream” is being distorted by Republicans of color. They even go so far as to call the American Dream “a dog whistle.”
Frankly, this is tone deaf and infuriating. Tim took some time to address it in an internal memo to Team Tim Scott this morning, and we wanted you to take a look!

Hello Team!
I believe in the American Dream because I lived it.
If you grew up like I did, there weren't too many reasons to live each day with hope. The love of my family, the support of my mentors, and the magic of education were the stepping stones that charted a path to a better future for my family and me.
But the fuel that kept me going was my faith in God and my hope in the American Dream. This same American Dream that the New York Times claims Republicans have distorted inspired me and will continue to inspire Americans for years to come. I won't allow some petty writers at the New York Times to stop me from talking about it for as long as I live. And I hope you all feel the same!
