Friend,
Few states have been co-opted more thoroughly by Trump and his MAGA crowd than Texas. But now, the authoritarian forces that are led by Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and AG Ken Paxton have turned so extreme they’ve abandoned the interests of most Texans. From public-school and border safety, to personal liberties and privacy, their government overreach is a dangerous assault on democracy.
In 2018, former U.S. congressman Beto O’Rourke came within 2.6% of beating Jan. 6 insurrectionist leader Sen. Ted Cruz. O’Rourke has a real opportunity to defeat Gov. Greg Abbott this November.

Gov. Abbott and his buddies collected millions, while Texans paid taxes for the unreliable power grid.

In the critical numbers game, boosting turnout by just a few percentage points across the state — as well as increasing voting down ballot — can make the difference in protecting democracy. Registering, organizing, and mobilizing voters where they are — especially in rural areas — will be the key to victory.
What Can I Do to Help Texas? Below you will find pointers to some meaningful actions with organizations in need of dedicated, democracy-loving volunteers like you — NOW.

As a volunteer with The Union, you’ll receive a national action email each week. Whether you live inside or outside the area for a particular race, there will always be actions for both situations.
We have about two months until the midterm elections. Zero time for hesitation. We are mobilizing our pro-democracy coalition across all 50 States. It will take all of us to ensure we have a democracy for ourselves and future generations of Americans.
Please forward this email to one friend today, ask them to stand together with us, and get them to join The Union. And follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Together,
The Union

If you attend any of the events in this email, reply back and tell us how it went, or anything else you’d like to share.
