We Can #HoldTheHouse!

It’s about two months until election day and the good news keeps coming! If you missed this article this weekend, it’s worth a read: [link removed]

This is the time to take collective action and #HoldTheHouse. It’s becoming clear that the path to holding the house runs through California. For once, maybe people will drive to California to volunteer for key races rather than the exodus of volunteers that usually floods out of the Golden State in the fall of an election year.

If you want a chance to meet a wonderful candidate who has the potential to be one of those heroes who helps hold the house, you can do so this Tuesday, August 30th at 7 p.m. in Hancock Park with HODG and California Controller Betty Yee. Come meet Dr. Kermit Jones, a practicing physician who is a Navy Veteran and has a law degree. But the best part is: he is caring, compassionate and charismatic.

He’s running for the new CA-03 which is a mashup of parts of old CA-08 (Mammoth, Owens Valley and Mono Lake) and CA-04 (Sierra Nevada, Gold Country and Lake Tahoe.) The new district has swung 8 points in our direction from the two previous districts. New polls are showing the generic ballot results are more favorable to Democrats. Kermit is on the DCCC’s Red to Blue program, which is reserved for the most competitive races representing seats we believe we can flip. NOW IS THE TIME TO BOOST THIS RACE.

Kermit’s opponent is barely worth mentioning - he’s an anti-choice, ant-science Trump sycophant who still refuses to say President Biden won the election - except that his name is Kevin Kiley and he wasted our tax dollars as a candidate in the push to recall Governor Newsom last fall. He simply cannot go to Congress.

PLEASE COME and meet Dr. Jones, along with Betty Yee, at this special event on Tuesday. If you cannot attend, this is a race worth putting your dollars behind. Here is a link to rsvp or donate. [link removed]

And finally, I am sorry to be so damn persistent about all this, but November 8, 2016 sent me on a trajectory that I never could have expected. I feel that I simply cannot rest until we have this Congressional seat on the Blue side. We have learned that it takes several cycles to flip a seat. We did everything possible in 2020 and we made great progress. With redistricting, this seat is now within our grasp. And Kermit is the right person to make it happen.
