As Secretary of State in the Trump Administration, I am used to being called a lot of nasty names. 

Clown...Deplorable...Ignorant....Redneck...Evil Resistance. The New York Times even said I am the worst secretary of state in history.

I couldn’t care less. I’m proud of our fight and our accomplishments, upending the status quo. Our resistance to socialism, our pushback to the “woke” cancel culture and our intense efforts to protect our liberty and our freedoms from slipping away is worthy. 

The Bill of Rights is under attack on nearly every front. We fought for it, and we will always fight for it. So they’ve called us “disrupters” and “anti-establishment.” To that, I say: “YOU BET WE ARE.”

I guess I come by disruption and shooting straight naturally. In the Pompeo family, I’ve often been compared to my grandfather, Earl Mercer. Grandpa Earl was pretty rough cut, and he always said what was on his mind.

He never won a “Mr. Congeniality” contest, but when the going got tough, you wanted Grandpa Earl around. In the 1940s, Grandpa Earl was the Sheriff of Mitchell County, Kansas. Population today: less than 6,500. 

Us grandkids learned a lot from Grandpa Earl. He was regarded as a great sheriff because he knew who he was and never tried to be something else—and he knew who the people of Mitchell County were and what they expected—and he respected that.

We learned to always stay true to ourselves and move on down the road. Never give up. Never stop fighting.

We are in a fight right now for the future of our country. It might be easy to get discouraged watching the radical Left try to move our country in entirely the wrong direction. But we can’t back down or give in. We have to stay in the fight and stand up for what is right.
