The twin crises of climate change and rising economic inequality demand solutions that rise to the speed, scope, and scale of these challenges. Given their unique leverage in our economic system, organized workers have always been central to social struggles of all kinds, and have a critical role to play in the transition to a fairer, low-carbon economy. While rosy projections about "millions of green jobs" are often touted by proponents of renewables like solar and (offshore) wind, the quality of jobs in these industries is not assured, and it's up to all of us to make sure this transition is a just transition. Join Francis Eanes from the Maine Labor Climate Council as he discusses the approaches, policies, and alliances required to make this happen.

The last nine months have brought historic investments in the nation's infrastructure and climate future. Together, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act passed last November and the Inflation Reduction Act passed in August will reduce toxic pollution, increase access to clean water, cut planet-warming pollution, accelerate our clean energy economy, and so much more. Even better, President Biden has committed to ensuring that at least 40 percent of the overall benefits from federal investments in climate and clean energy flow to disadvantaged communities.
