The House finally voted to fully restore the Voting Rights Act last week - every Republican from Texas voted against it.
Battleground Texas

Last week, the House finally passed a bill to fully restore the Voting Rights Act of 1965. It’s been a long time coming, team.

Back in 2013, five conservative justices on the Supreme Court gutted the law, and it opened the floodgates on voter suppression all over the country -- including right here in Texas. The bill that passed last Friday is an important step towards righting that wrong.

The right to vote is the cornerstone of our democracy, and it’s shameful that we’re still fighting those who seek to restrict it.

Every Republican member of Congress from Texas voted against this bill. This is just the latest example of our representatives in Washington failing to, well, represent us. Texans believe in democracy, team. Full stop. We know that we deserve so much better than this.

Thankfully, we have the chance to turn the page in less than a year. And every day here at Battleground Texas, we’re laying the groundwork we’ll need to be successful in 2020.

We have ambitious goals, like registering as many Texans as possible before Election Day, and we need your support to accomplish them.

Chip in now to help us defeat these Republicans in 2020 and ensure that we have strong voter protection laws in Texas:
