In 2018, we recruited and helped elect AOC. In 2020, we doubled down with the election of Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman. And earlier this year, we helped elect Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick after a five-vote margin in her special election primary.
All of this is made possible by your small-dollar donations.
Unlike the average corporate-backed candidate or big special interest groups raking in millions of dollars from high-dollar donors, BNC’s average donation this year is just $18.58.
In fact, over 99% of our contributions are small dollar, with many donors giving $5 or $10 per month. And on the strength of those small dollars we helped elect AND re-elect bold progressive leaders who are turning the tide in Washington, D.C.
But right now we’re facing a major challenge. This month, our fundraising has fallen off considerably, and we are still $7,000 short of our “must reach” fundraising goal for August.
We urgently need to close that gap, because falling short means making cuts to our operating budget – and that hurts our candidates.
We know you get a lot of political emails (so do we!), but the fact remains that nearly all of our monthly contributions come from folks reading and responding to email messages like this one.

To be perfectly transparent with you, Brand New Congress operates on a very tight budget. Unlike other political organizations that raise (and spend) $250K, $500K or even $1M per month, we raise and spend a small fraction of that.
It’s because we depend entirely on donations from grassroots supporters like you – not a single dime from corporate PACs or any other kind of lobbyist.
What we raise in August and September will determine how much support we are able to offer our 11 candidates on the ballot in November. And since we begin candidate recruitment immediately after the election, falling behind now will only hurt that process, too.
So it’s really important that we stay on track, and that means catching up on this August goal, today if possible.
We’ve already seen major gains by progressives in Congress pressing the administration and political establishment on climate action and student debt relief. But we have to do MORE.
