This morning I appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe to have a conversation about our party’s nominating process.

We talked about how, as a party that values inclusion, diversity, and participation, Democrats should be willing to tell the truth about our primaries. Starting our nominating process in Iowa and New Hampshire just doesn’t make sense--and it’s time for a change.

Even Joe Scarborough agrees: the Democratic Party and nation have changed a lot since 1972 and we need to match our party's diversity.

If we’re going to live our values as Democrats, we need to speak honestly. While Iowa and New Hampshire voters have been dedicated and thoughtful partners in the nominating process, the truth is we need to change how we elect a nominee.

The candidate who takes on Trump will need to bring people together from all backgrounds and tell the truth at a time when Trump is setting records for lying. This campaign has done just that.

We will continue to lift up the voices of vulnerable people and those that are too often ignored. We will continue to address our biggest problems, and we will keep speaking the truth.

No one like Julián Castro has ever been in the Oval Office. His grandmother immigrated here from Mexico when she was just 7 years old. She never got past the 4th grade, but she provided for her family by working as a maid and a housekeeper.

Now, her grandson is running for President of the United States. Against all odds, grassroots Democrats like YOU helped him qualify for the Democratic debates and sent him to the front of the pack of Democratic candidates.

We know we send you a lot of emails, but that’s because we’re relying on grassroots supporters to overcome our next big challenge:

Julián must be able to compete and build a movement that lasts for the long haul, and he’s not taking a cent of corporate PAC money to do it. Will you be a part of this historic campaign?
