[1]U.S. Senator Chris Murphy

Our campaign has an important monthly fundraising goal we need to hit, but the truth is we’re pacing significantly behind at the moment. So I am about to ask you to make a donation to help us out, but first, I hope you will allow me to explain why your support matters.

Fundraising is always a bit tougher in the summer months. People try to travel and unplug more. I’ve tried to do that myself when possible. Between that and a busy legislative session in the Senate, we’ve neglected our fundraising a bit. It’s no reason to panic, and it was worth it honestly.

I’m really proud of all that we’ve accomplished this summer. Together, we passed the bipartisan gun safety bill, the Inflation Reduction Act, the CHIPS Act and the PACT Act. This is the work you elected us to do, and these bills are going to make a real difference for our planet and every single person in this country.

But that means I simply have not had time to pay attention to our campaign’s modest fundraising goals. These goals help us keep up our campaign’s work of organizing around the issues that matter most.

I’m grateful for all of the grassroots donations to our campaign. These donations allow me to focus on the work you expect from your senator without worrying about fundraising. But to close the fundraising gap we’re facing, I’m counting on a lot of people to donate today, so here’s where I ask:

If you can afford to, please make a donation to help us make up for our recent fundraising slowdown. Our goals are modest, but it’s important that we not take anything for granted — especially with Election Day right around the corner.
