We cannot allow climate change deniers to win power in the Senate.

3X MATCH ACTIVE: We need your help to defeat the Dirty Dozen »

Friend — this may be the weirdest gaffe we’ve seen this election cycle. Herschel Walker — U.S. Senate candidate in Georgia and member of LCV Victory Fund's Dirty Dozenjust came out against trees:

“a lot of the money is going into trees. … We've got enough trees. Don’t we have enough trees around here?”
— Herschel Walker
U.S. Senate Candidate in Georgia

Here’s the scary part: FiveThirtyEight currently rates Georgia’s Senate election as a toss-up between Walker and Senator Raphael Warnock, one of the strongest pro-environment, pro-climate action champions in the Senate.

When races are as close as this one, the outcome is often decided by simple on-the-ground organizing. LCV Victory Fund is planning to go big to turn out voters to elect climate champions in states like Georgia, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Nevada — but as it stands, we don’t have the resources to scale up our campaigns. Will you help?

Will you make a gift to help elect pro-environment champions like Senator Warnock and defeat climate change deniers like Herschel Walker this fall? Give now and TRIPLE your impact. Even $5 goes 3X as far to help us win in November.

It’s maddening to think about, but the truth is that corporate polluters’ bottom lines benefit from elected leaders who ignore or deny the threat of climate change. That’s why fossil fuel interests are working to get candidates like Herschel Walker elected — not despite their anti-science positions, but because of them.

And Walker is not alone — Dirty Dozen candidates, the names twelve of the worst anti-environment candidates this election cycle, keep making dangerous statements about climate change:
  • In Pennsylvania, Senate candidate Mehmet Oz told supporters, “carbon dioxide, my friends, is 0.04% of our air. That’s not the problem.”
  • In Wisconsin, Senator Ron Johnson has said, “I think climate change is ... bulls—.”
  • In Nevada, Senate candidate Adam Laxalt once signed a letter defending ExxonMobil, saying there is a “reasonable suspicion” of climate science.

LCV Victory Fund has a plan to out-organize these and other Big Oil-backed candidates by motivating and turning out climate voters in key races across the country. But we can't do it without your support.

Because defeating Dirty Dozen candidates is so important, a group of donors has agreed to TRIPLE MATCH every grassroots contribution through the end of the month — up to $25,000!

Please, make a gift while our TRIPLE MATCH is active. With a gift of just $5 or more, you’ll help LCV Victory Fund defeat Big Oil’s candidates and elect climate champions to Congress this November.

Thank you for joining the fight to elect pro-environment leaders this November, so we can keep moving forward on climate, not backwards.

We can do this. Let’s get to work.

Onward,
