Dear Friend,

We have seen the world afire. We have seen authoritarians seize power.
And while we have seen people and communities devastated beyond measure,
we have also seen millions across the planet rise up in ways once
thought impossible.

In an interview earlier this fall, author and activist Naomi Klein told
me, "It's a goddamn terrifying time to be alive." And she's right. I
feel that often.

But the good people of the world are the light in the darkness. It's
okay to be terrified—how could we not be? But that is not where it ends.

This is an "all hands on deck moment," she said, and there are just two
questions we need to ask. Which side are we on? And: What are we going
to do to fight for our lives right now?

There is simply too much at stake for progressives to not have their own
independent media. And Common Dreams simply wouldn't exist without
support from our readers. There's no way around it. No ads. No
billionaire investors. We are funded solely by the people who believe in
this mission and our work. You stand with us as we stand with you.

So will you join us today to support these Common Dreams? Our promise is
to remain true to our mission: To inform. To Inspire. To ignite change
for the common good.

Our End of Year campaign is underway, and we must not fail. What are we
going to do to fight for a better world? Everything humanly possible.

Will you make a contribution to Common Dreams today?
