Friend,
“There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must do it because conscience tells him it is right.”
These words from my hero, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., have been my guiding light throughout this impeachment process.
The House investigations have made clear:
- President Trump pressured a foreign government for his own political gain while withholding congressionally-approved foreign aid. In doing so, he abused his power and compromised our national security.
- President Trump also obstructed Congress every step of the way by refusing to cooperate with any attempt to follow the facts in search of the truth -- despite the constitutional right of the body to investigate the matter at hand.
Having reviewed the articles of impeachment and underlying evidence, I must follow my conscience. Which is why I will abide by my oath of office and vote yes on both articles.
In service,
Antonio Delgado
