Hi John,

Yesterday David shared the story of his grandmother, Lucile, and all the incredible progress she’s witnessed in nearly 105 years of living.

Progress that is now under attack and being stripped away piece by piece.

That’s why David went to Boise yesterday to participate in a protest for abortion rights. He was invited to speak, and got to share Lucile’s story with the attendees.

David knows how important it is for Democrats to show up for these fights in person, and that’s the same energy he will bring to the U.S. Senate when he fights for the legislation that will protect our rights and lift up working families.

We know we can flip this U.S. Senate seat, because we talk to people across this state every single day who are sick of being represented by a senator who works against the common good of ordinary Idahoans.

If you missed David’s original email, check it out below.

We’re trying to raise another $2,000 dollars for a big order of yard signs and palm cards. Can we count on your support today?

→ Yes, I will chip in now to flip this U.S. Senate seat!

More soon,

Team Roth

Subject: My grandma Lucile's story

Hi John,

I want to tell you about one of my biggest heroes – my grandma, Lucile.

Image of David’s Grandmother smiling big as she stands outside the polling place. She is using a walker and wearing an “I voted!” sticker.

My grandma was born in 1917. She was born into a country where women did not have the right to vote, the right to divorce, the right to take out a loan or even have a bank account in their own name.

And women certainly did not have the right to seek an abortion in 1917.

That all started to change 102 years ago today. On this day in 1920, the 19th amendment was formally adopted into the U.S. Constitution, granting women the right to vote.

With their new voting powers, women like my grandma fought for all the rights they’ve won today.

But now, as she approaches her 105th birthday next month, she is witnessing those rights get stripped away.

It’s been two months since the Supreme Court struck down Roe v Wade and erased the constitutionally protected right to seek an abortion. The same radical, right-wing supermajority on the court is also attacking voting rights.

The solution lies in the Senate, where Republicans like my opponent are blocking the legislation that will codify Roe, protect voting rights, marriage equality, and so much more.

I’m running to flip this U.S. Senate seat because Idahoans deserve a Senator who will keep fighting for progress – not stand in the way. Will you join that fight by making a contribution to our grassroots, people-powered campaign today?

My grandma taught me so much in life, not the least of which is to leave the world better than you found it. The progress her generation helped fight for is under attack, and I won’t stand for it.

I’m in Boise today to join the courageous women of Idaho who are standing up for abortion rights and celebrating the anniversary of this tremendous milestone.

I'm here because we have to stand together in this fight, and I will always be an ally for women’s liberation.

For my grandma and yours,

- David

David Roth is a single, gay dad running to flip a U.S. Senate seat in Idaho. His opponent is an extremist “pro-life” Republican who’s been in politics for 37 years. David stepped up to serve the state that has been his home most of his life, where he is now raising his two young sons, because every state is worth fighting for. There has never been an openly gay man elected to the U.S. Senate. Help us make history this year. Pitch in now to flip this seat and send David to D.C.
