Hi team,

Earlier this year, in anticipation of the Biden Justice Department filing its response to petitioners in Fitisemanu V. United States, a case that asks the Supreme Court to answer “whether the Insular Cases should be overruled,” several of my Democratic colleagues and I sent a letter to President Biden to unequivocally condemn the Insular Cases.

As you all may know, this century old Supreme Court decision established a racist and colonial framework denying 3.6 million U.S. territory residents equal constitutional rights.

Now, with the deadline for the Justice Department to file its response by August 29 quickly approaching, I once again call on the Biden administration to be on the right side of history and call on the Supreme Court to finally turn the page on the Insular Cases.

Our country cannot continue to deny tax-paying Americans the same rights and benefits Americans born in the states enjoy. It’s simply not right.

Since being sworn into Congress, I made a commitment to the people of the Virgin Islands to never stop fighting for their constitutional rights, and provide them with the support from our government they need and have worked hard for. Can you chip in today to support my efforts in condemning the Insular Cases and help me continue speaking for all Virgin Islanders?
