I wanted to make sure you saw this polling data from earlier this week.

According to an NBC News poll, 57% of the American public now thinks that the "growing threat to democracy" is the single most important issue facing the country.

What's important to note is that these aren't just Democrats. 61% of respondents who listed this as their top identify as Independents.

Here in CA-41, my opponent Ken Calvert has landed under the microscope on this very issue. He put his loyalty to Donald Trump ahead of our democracy when he joined the effort to overturn the 2020 election results. He also hit a new low this month when he attacked law enforcement for investigating Trump's possession of classified documents.

Calvert’s willingness to undermine our institutions is dangerous, and it’s no wonder he invited a primary challenge from a fellow Republican who was disgusted with his attacks on our democracy. That candidate took a significant 5% of the Republican vote from Calvert.

Voters are looking for an alternative to chaos and extremism being pushed by today's GOP. We’re running on stability, defending democracy, and protecting the rule of law – and I’d be proud to earn the votes of Independents and freedom-loving Republicans who agree.
