The problem: Companies can use advertising expenses as a tax write-off, and Big Oil companies are advertising themselves as “green” even as they contribute to climate change. While companies like Chevron market themselves as being team-players in the fight against climate change, the reality is that they only spent 0.2% on renewable resources in a recent eight year period.
The solution: Katie’s bill would make it illegal for Big Oil to get tax credits for any marketing that promotes the use of oil or gas.
