John,
On this day 14 years ago, Former President Barack Obama became the first Black person in the history of our country to receive the presidential nomination by a major political party.
President Obama’s legacy is not just one of a man who broke barriers and inspired social change but is also one filled with landmark decisions that pushed us closer to progress. From the Affordable Care Act, and the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), to the Paris Climate Agreement, President Obama changed the lives of millions of Americans, and millions to come, for the better.
We all stand on the shoulders of the change makers and ladders who came before us. It is in part because of his victory 14 years ago that today, I am the first Black man to serve as the President of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors.
It has been, and will continue to be, my honor and privilege to fight for all San Franciscans, especially our most vulnerable neighbors. But my work is far from over and with your help, we can create a legacy of our own we can all be proud of.
Will you help me build that legacy and celebrate this historic day for President Barack Obama by endorsing our campaign? Thank you for sharing my vision of a safer, cleaner, and happier District 10.
Gratefully,
