[1]Cori Bush

John,

Around this time last year, Congress had begun packing up for the summer
recess, but not Cori; the packing she had in mind held a stark contrast to
her colleagues.

Packing the first time she’d been evicted, following an already stressful
fight with her partner.

Packing the second time she’d been evicted, after leaving a dead-end job
to attend nursing school, now unable to make rent.

Packing the third time she’d been evicted, after she joined the protests
in Ferguson following the killing of Michael Brown Jr. — her neighbors now
concerned she’d bring trouble to their community.

So, Cori once again, started packing.

A sleeping bag, a folding chair, and a message to leadership: We must
extend the eviction moratorium and protect our most vulnerable.

Five days later, a victory.

Cori’s direct action on the Capitol steps was impossible to ignore. Her
round-the-clock occupation and organizing earned the attention of
President Biden, and resulted in the extension of the moratorium, saving
millions from having to experience what Cori had.

This is the difference between politicians and regular, everyday people
who share our lived experiences like Cori, because — each and every time —
she is going to walk the walk.

Now, Cori needs our support. [ [link removed] ]It’s critical that we finish August strong
and begin accelerating our work toward Election Day. Will you chip in
$5 or more to help hit our $38,500 end-of-month goal and
re-elect Cori to Congress?

Republican donors started funding attacks against Cori early, because they
know she’s effective and driven. Those attacks won't be slowing down
anytime soon. If you haven’t yet made a contribution, please do so today.
[ [link removed] ]Your donation will go directly to re-electing Cori and keeping up our
anti-racist, progressive movement for change.

It would be easy to dismiss this challenge, but that would be a serious
mistake. We need strong leaders like Cori in Congress for the fights
ahead.

Thank you,

Team Cori
