John- Dan Crenshaw here. This week, I went on CNN to discuss the highly politicized raid of Mar-a-Lago and what it means for the credibility and trust of our institutions. I also defended Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s decision to send illegal immigrants to New York City and highlighted the new method cartels are using to flood fentanyl into our country as they take advantage of our border crisis. Now, here’s your brief: THE LEFT IS MELTING DOWN OVER THIS INTERVIEW Click to watch on Instagram or Facebook Left wing Twitter melted down over my interview on CNN where I simply discussed the facts and the very reasonable concerns with the Mar-a-Lago raid. Here’s what we know and here’s what the left doesn’t want to acknowledge: Federal agents went to Mar-a-Lago in June as a result of a subpoena to search for additional documents they believed were still at Mar-a-Lago. Documents were retrieved during that visit and, by all accounts, the visit was cordial. Trump even complied with a *second* subpoena seeking security footage of Mar-a-Lago, and Trump’s lawyers signed a statement saying all documents had been turned over to investigators. At no point between the June visit by federal agents and the raid on Mar-a-Lago on August 8 did the DOJ issue another subpoena or request additional documents they believed were not turned over. Even if they believed that the statements by Trump’s lawyers - that there were no additional documents at Mar-a-Lago - was false, the DOJ did not ask for those additional documents or subpoena them. Even though they were willing to issue a subpoena for documents they retrieved in June, and even though they were willing to issue a subpoena for security footage of Mar-a-Lago, the Department of Justice did not issue a subpoena or request additional documents they believed to still be at Mar-a-Lago after their visit in June. Instead, they took the unprecedented step of issuing and executing a search warrant on a former president’s home. This is why so many Americans have questions about the raid and about the politicization of the Justice Department. We need answers and we will get those answers during oversight hearings once Republicans take control of the House in November. SANCTUARY CITY? Watch on Instagram and Facebook In the same interview, I also defended Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s decision to send illegal immigrants to New York City (whose mayor proudly claims that it is a sanctuary city) after they cross our southern border. The open border is immoral on multiple levels. Governor Abbott is doing whatever he can to draw attention to it, as he should. And while the New York mayor is complaining about a few thousand illegal immigrants in his self-proclaimed sanctuary city, Texas sees thousands of illegal immigrants cross our southern border EVERY DAY. Since Joe Biden took office Border Patrol has encountered nearly 4 MILLION illegal immigrants. We had nearly 200,000 encounters in ONE MONTH, and as of July, 60 people whose names appear on the terror watch listed were stopped trying to cross our southern border. Biden’s border crisis is a threat to our sovereignty, it’s a threat to our national security, and it’s unfair to the countless immigrants and asylum seekers who are trying to come to American the right way. According to Fox News, DEA officials are warning that "rainbow fentanyl" is spreading in Oregon and Idaho and throughout the West Coast. Here’s the report from Fox: The director of the DEA's Oregon-Idaho high-intensity drug trafficking area Chris Gibson joined "Fox & Friends First" Thursday to bring attention to the most recent effort to spread fentanyl throughout the U.S. "Our biggest fear is, is that it will get in the hands of children who don't understand what it is that they have and thinking that it's sidewalk chalk or a piece of candy ingesting it and eventually or potentially overdosing on what is a very, very potent drug that is killing hundreds of thousands of people a year in this country," he told Carley Shimkus. A bag of the more potent powdered fentanyl was confiscated from a home in Portland, and authorities are warning that the drug could be making its way across the West Coast. Deputies discovered body armor, $5,000 in cash, nine guns of which some were stolen and drugs. The drugs including meth, heroin, 800 pills of fentanyl and four grams of multi-colored, powdered fentanyl, often called "rainbow fentanyl." Gibson said the use of rainbow colors for the lethal drug is a marketing ploy to obtain new users and also mentioned that he believes this is directly from the southern border. "This is definitely produced south of our border in Mexico and being transported across the border and then distributed to communities by drug trafficking organizations that exist within this country." Gibson emphasized the need to stop the drug directly from its source, referring to the need to control the influx of drugs from the southern border. "We hope that that will eventually take place in a form that is more effective than what it is right now," he added. This open border crisis has deadly consequences and the Mexican drug cartels are one of our biggest national security threats. We need to start acting like it. OUR BEST YOUTH SUMMIT YET!
