Student Loan "Forgiveness" This week, President Biden signed an executive order to cancel up to $10,000 in student loan debt per recipient and up to $20,000 for those who received the Pell Grant. There is no such thing as canceling or “forgiving” student loan debt. This debt will be transferred to hardworking American taxpayers and will worsen inflation while rewarding overpriced colleges. Just as President Biden’s open borders policy makes suckers out of the law-abiding scientists and engineers waiting patiently for years to come to America legally, Biden’s amnesty on student loan debt makes suckers out of the millions of working and middle-class Americans who paid their student loans debts as they pledged to do. This election season give-away is also a stick in the eye to the two-thirds of American adults without a bachelor’s degree. Fast food workers, truck drivers, and firefighters already struggling to make ends meet in President Biden’s self-inflicted recession will be subsidizing affluent white-collar and Ivy League professionals while the government refuses to hold universities accountable for their skyrocketing tuition rates. This move by the Biden administration fuels the dumpster fire that is the inflation crisis and is a slap to the face to American taxpayers. No votes this week. The House will be in session on Tuesday, September 13, 2022. This week, I traveled to the two newest counties in the First District: Marion and Boone counties. I met with community leaders, mayors, and industry leaders in Harrison to discuss the overall economic standings of the counties, the positive things happening in the communities, and the struggles they are facing. I also met with education leaders about the plans for public schools as the school year begins. In both counties, I discussed the role my staff plays in areas like handling casework issues and writing letters of support for grants. I look forward to representing these counties in Washington and helping them better their communities through infrastructure projects and grants. Also this week, I visited Arkansas County to meet with the County Judge to discuss local infrastructure projects. In Stuttgart, I met with leadership at Riceland to hear their concerns on the state of the economy and labor issues and how my role on the Agriculture and Intelligence Committees benefits their industry and the First District. One of the most important things I do as a U.S. Representative is help people communicate with federal agencies. Recently, a local periodontal office reached out to my office, and we were able to facilitate over $35,000 in backpay from the VA.
