As you may know, in the Fall of 2020 WE ACT established the Cecil Corbin-Mark Fellowship for Environmental Justice Leadership in the memory of Cecil Corbin-Mark. Cecil was a leading figure of the Environmental Justice movement both in New York State and across the nation, and as WE ACT's Deputy Director and Director of Policy Initiatives he helped develop and pass numerous environmental health related bills in New York City and New York State.
The goal of the Cecil Corbin-Mark Fellowship for Environmental Justice Leadership is to inspire young people from disadvantaged communities to work with WE ACT staff on the issues that Cecil was passionate about: climate justice and community advocacy. We formally launched the Fellowship in Fall of last year, and now we are excited to share with you our newly appointed fellows, Elizabeth Reyes and Caleb Smith!
You are invited to a virtual meeting on Tuesday, August 30 at 6 PM EST to mark the fellowship's launch and understand how it is helping to buil a new generation of climate justice leaders.
Register here to learn how the fellowship is honoring Cecil’s memory, how the fellows are currently gaining experience in community-based advocacy and environmental justice policy issues, and engage in a Q&A. Meet with the fellows and key leaders of this unique program:
Erich Pica, President of Friends of the Earth
Sonal Jessel, Director of Policy at WE ACT
Peggy Shepard, Co-Founder and Executive Director of WE ACT
