Fentanyl is one of the most powerful man-made opioids already responsible for 21 deaths this year in Santa Clarita alone.? In an effort to raise awareness, a press conference was held by Action Drug Rehabs CEO, Cary Quashen at the ACTION Drug & Rehab Center in Saugus. Guest speakers included: Sheriff Villanueva, Santa Clarita Captain, Justin Diez, and LASD?s Narcotic?s Bureau Captain, Brandon Dean.

Pink Patch Project Night at Dodgers Stadium??

The Los Angeles Dodgers recognized the Pink Patch Project at their home game on Friday, August 19, 2022. Breast cancer survivors were honored on the field prior to the start of the game. The project is a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs' Association and public safety agencies in Los Angeles County and beyond. These agencies continuously work together to raise awareness about the importance of early detection to combat breast cancer and to raise funds for research and treatment.

Man and His Dog Airlifted to Safety by Members of Air Rescue 5?
*August 26, 2022?*
On August 8, 2022? Air 5 received a call for service indicating a person was stranded on the side of the mountain by Mt. Wilson Trail. They responded and located a male and his dog standing on a small shelf of soil. This rescue was one of the hardest for Air Rescue 5 but they managed to bring the male and his dog to safety.?

Sheriff Villanueva Hosted His Eminence Shyalpa Tenzin Rinpoche?
*August 23, 2022?*
On August 23, 2022, Sheriff Villanueva hosted His Eminence Shyalpa Tenzin Rinpoche in his office at the Hall of Justice. His Eminence adorned Sheriff Villanueva, Undersheriff Murakami, and several other department members with a Khata scarf. The Khata scarf represents a pure heart, good wishes, and respect. His Eminence Shyalpa Tenzin Rinpoche was born in the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains. At the age of four, he began his training as a lama. ?His Eminence is a prominent Tibetan Buddhist Monk, who attended the Buddhist University in Sarnath, India. He established the Shyalpa Monastery and Nunnery, the Mipham Institute, the Himalayan Children?s Fund, and the Wencheng Gongzhu International Foundation in Hong Kong.??
