After this morning’s email, I think we could all use a bit of good news.

Hi again John,

After this morning’s email, I think we could all use a bit of good news. And here it is! After a lot of research and analyzing the data, our team is ready to present “Election 2019 by the Numbers”.

As you can see, LGBTQ equality leapt forward in 2019. Ninety-eight non-incumbent candidates won their races, adding a new generation of LGBTQ leadership to state legislatures, local offices and mayors’ offices around the country. A record number of trans women won their races, including Danica Roem in Virginia and Holly Ryan in Massachusetts. In negative equality states – including states with no LGBTQ representation – 11 candidates won their races, signaling a shift in voter perception about LGBTQ issues.

We must capitalize on this momentum and build our resources. We’re preparing for the next Rainbow Wave, and we need your help to make it happen. Join the Victory Caucus today with a monthly gift of just $3 or more.

And during this “off-year” election cycle, Victory Fund endorsed more LGBTQ candidates than in any other odd-numbered year in our organization’s history. Over 80 Victory Fund candidates won their races on Election night, leaving us with a win rate of 75%.

These candidates crossed the finish line thanks to generous supporters like you. We raised more than $370,000 for our candidates, including over $120,000 to support Danica Roem’s reelection campaign and help her fend off those anti-trans attacks. We provided campaign advice, fundraising support and media visibility for our candidates to help ensure they made history.

These are great numbers and we have a lot to celebrate. But we can’t rest. It’s time to gear up for 2020 and the battles that will undoubtedly come next. We’ll need a massive war chest if we’re going to replicate 2019’s results. Start a monthly gift of $3 or more today and become a Victory Caucus member.

Thanks so much for your support,

Mayor Annise Parker

LGBTQ Victory Fund has helped thousands of openly LGBTQ candidates win elections up and down the ballot, from sea to shining sea since our founding in 1991. We believe representation is power – so we elected U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin and Kyrsten Sinema, Governors Jared Polis and Kate Brown, all seven LGBTQ members of U.S. Congress and countless candidates for state and local government, including Virginia Delegate Danica Roem, Colorado state Representative Leslie Herod and Pennsylvania Assemblymember Brian Sims. And with an unprecedented number of LGBTQ people running for office in this year, we’ll need your support to make 2020 the next Rainbow Wave.
