Friends,

I don't know if you've heard, but apparently there's a long-running war on Christmas in our country and atheists, agnostics, humanists, and other nonreligious are the tip of the spear.

The story goes, we're so hostile to the holiday season—forcing politicians and businesses to stop saying Merry Christmas—that we've threatened the very fabric of our society.

President Trump has proudly "led the charge against the assault of our cherished and beautiful phrase," and his administration still pushes the idea that secularism threatens the integrity of our holiday season (and much more).

Their artificial narrative—designed to stoke resentment and fear—is absolute nonsense. We refuse to let it stand, but we're not going to stoop to their level.

Instead, the Secular Coalition for America and our 19 member organizations have partnered to launch #MySecularHoliday, a platform to highlight the many ways that nontheists celebrate the holidays.

All month, we've been collecting stories of how our community takes part in family holiday traditions, puts clever secular twists on old ideas, and finds new ways to make the holidays our own.
We believe that the holidays are an occasion for people to come together, not be divided along religious lines. And the truth is, most of America agrees. In fact, national polling says three-quarters of the nation thinks this is a made-up issue.

There is a concerted effort by the religious right to demonize our community and brand us as hateful and uncompromising. This is a chance to prove them wrong. We can change hearts and minds by sharing how we put secular values into action.

Join us in using this opportunity to shine a light on our community and spread some holiday cheer.
