Friends,
I don't know if you've heard, but apparently there's a long-running war on Christmas in our country and atheists, agnostics, humanists, and other nonreligious are the tip of the spear.
The story goes, we're so hostile to the holiday seasonâ âforcing politicians and businesses to stop saying Merry Christmasâ âthat we've threatened the very fabric of our society.Â
President Trump has proudly "led the charge against the assault of our cherished and beautiful phrase," and his administration still pushes the idea that secularism threatens the integrity of our holiday season (and much more).
Their artificial narrativeâdesigned to stoke resentment and fearâis absolute nonsense. We refuse to let it stand, but we're not going to stoop to their level.
Instead, the Secular Coalition for America and our 19Â member organizations have partnered to launch #MySecularHoliday, a platform to highlight the many ways that nontheists celebrate the holidays.
All month, we've been collecting stories of how our community takes part in family holiday traditions, puts clever secular twists on old ideas, and finds new ways to make the holidays our own.
