Dear neighbor,
President Biden recently signed the historic Inflation Reduction Act into law, setting into motion the greatest investment in climate ever and bringing down costs for American families. The new law will lower energy costs for households, combat the climate crisis, reduce the deficit, and finally require the largest corporations to pay their fair share. It also cuts prescription drug costs by allowing Medicare to negotiate the prices of high-cost medications and capping out-of-pocket costs. With this action, Democrats are delivering on our commitment to build an economy that works for working families.

The Inflation Reduction Act is one of many laws Democrats have enacted that reflect our priorities: lower costs, better-paying jobs, and safer communities. We are focused on putting people over politics by passing bold, transformative legislation that will help create a brighter future for American families.
Earlier this month, we celebrated the 87th anniversary of Social Security, the most successful anti-poverty program in American history. Social Security helps protect our nation’s most vulnerable and represents a sacred promise to those who've earned their retirement through decades of hard work. We know how much our seniors and their families rely on Social Security, which is why we refuse to allow Republicans to end it. While Republicans have shared their plans to privatize, cut, and eventually end the program, Democrats are working to protect and expand it. I’m proud to be a cosponsor of Social Security 2100: A Sacred Trust to provide an across-the-board increase in benefits, end the 5-month waiting period to receive disability benefits, provide caregiver credits, and improve the Cost-of-Living Adjustment. I will keep fighting in Washington to ensure this program serves our nation for decades to come.
