There’s something very important that I want you to keep in mind these next few weeks, friend.

While fear and loathing are the theme of Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump’s efforts to retake the Senate majority, these emotions cannot sustain themselves.

It is love, truth, and justice that nourish us, give us strength, and water our souls.

You have to love the American people to serve them well. No matter who they are or where they come from.

While we trudge through the wilderness of false and defamatory attacks on our democracy and on each other, I want you to keep the faith that love, truth, and justice remain on the agenda.

Scandal sells.

Rage makes for quick donations.

But the people of this country elected us to the Senate to serve something higher than ourselves — all of you.

Never, ever forget that’s what these campaigns are supposed to be all about.

So if you’re able and willing, I’d appreciate it if you could chip in $10 to keep love, truth, and justice on the agenda through the final stretch of this midterm campaign season.

Together we’ll create a more just, more loving nation for all of us.
