I recently launched a summer workforce initiative and website: TX24Works.com, a one-stop shop with links and information on workforce opportunities in North Texas. This week, we highlighted the aviation industry, which encompasses DFW Airport – the second largest airport in the country. I have met with aviation leaders here in North Texas and many share a similar concern: they need more employees. I am excited to provide these resources to North Texans and empower our workforce. Watch our short video below to learn more.

As part of my summer workforce initiative, I spent Wednesday hosting education leaders on a tour around North Texas to hear from companies who are committed to workforce solutions.

Our first stop was the American Airlines Skyview Center to tour their facility and discuss pilot shortages and their training programs that inspire and prepare the next generation of pilots and airline employees.

Next we met with Aviation Technology Services where we discussed how to best handle workforce challenges and find prospective employees looking to grow a career in aviation.

We had a productive stop at Universal Technical Institute to discuss their programs that are thriving and have thousands of students being trained for careers in the automotive and welding industries.

We traveled to Tata Consultancy Services North America to discuss the endless opportunities in the technology industry for students interested in STEM.

At our final stop, we met with the Walmart Store Academy where we were able to hear about programs they’ve implemented to create a path for their employees to pursue higher education.

I'd like to thank the many stakeholders who met with us to explore the many avenues of empowering our constituents and bolstering the workforce here in North Texas. Be sure to visit TX24Works.com to learn more.

My office offers several opportunities for students to participate and compete in throughout the year. Please visit our Student Programs Overview page for more information regarding eligibility and program deadlines.

It’s still early in the school year, but students have already found the opportunity to apply for the Congressional Youth Advisory Council. We do not want any students to miss out on this opportunity and want to remind you that the deadline to apply has been extended to 5:00 pm on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. To learn more information about the program and to download the application, please click here. Our office has received applications from some outstanding students, so we cannot wait to see who else applies!
