My name is Aru, and you’ve probably gotten some emails from me before: I’m 21 years old and the director of Sunrise’s Trainings Program.

Trainings are the number one way we grow the movement. Through online welcome calls, day-long orientation trainings, mass summits, and multi-day skill workshops, our trainers level up thousands of young people to be leaders in the movement -- whether they are experienced hub coordinated or just got involved in the movement last week.

What young people in America do in 2020 will determine the course of history for centuries to come. As Trainings Director, I feel that weight very deeply.

To meet our movement’s big goals for 2020, our team estimated that we need to train 100,000 new young leaders in Sunrise. That means we’ll be putting on trainings across the country almost every weekend--sometimes with more than 15 trainings happening at once.

This is a huge goal, but we’ve mapped out every step and we know we can get there. There’s just one thing left: we still need to raise a lot more this month to fund this project’s budget.

Can you chip monthly in to help us train 100,000 new leaders in Sunrise in 2020? Your support will help fund:

5 new training department staff members
15 new full-time training fellows from March to December
Food, housing, and travel support for 50,000 in-person training attendees
Venues for 1,000+ trainings across the country
Equity stipends to support volunteer trainers who are giving up wages they normally depend on from weekend jobs they’re skipping to train with us.

When I think about what we’re trying to pull off next year, I get chills. For me and everyone on my team, training 100,000 people is the biggest thing we’ve ever done, and it honestly feels a little crazy. But we’re setting out to do it because it’s what we need to do to build the mass movement that can win the Green New Deal. And for that, I’ll take on anything.
