New Jersey Must Receive Its Fair Share to Replace Lead Pipes

Everyone deserves access to clean and safe drinking water. That’s why I called on the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure that the funding to replace lead services lines in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is equitably allocated to underserved communities, including those in New Jersey. I’m concerned that the current formula that will determine future allocations to states does not adequately account for the number of lead service lines that need replacement in our state.

The funding in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is set to provide a huge boost in our efforts to finally address the long-standing issue of lead in drinking water, but it requires equitable distribution. South Amboy to Receive $4.9 Million to Rebuild Infrastructure

I was in South Amboy this week to announce that the city will receive $4.9 million to help rebuild its infrastructure. The federal funding comes from the American Rescue Plan that House Democrats passed and President Biden signed into law in 2021. The city will use the funding to repair roads and sewers to bolster economic development. It is estimated that the funding will create 390 jobs and generate $1.1 million in private investment.
