Dear friends,

On this day in 1920, women officially gained the right to vote through the 19th Amendment. And on this Women's Equality Day, we honor the women who came before us and recommit ourselves to empowering ALL people to participate fully in our democracy.

The women who fought hard for the right to vote were pioneers of American democracy that blazed a trail for future generations. Their dedication provided the tools that helped us secure a record amount of women in the 117th Congress with 144 women from across the country – the highest percentage in U.S. history. We also have our first woman Vice President.

But our fight for equality is far from over. We can vote and run for office, but our rights are under attack like never before. From abortion and health care access to equal pay for all, we need to draw on the strength of those who came before us to defend our progress.

Today, on Women’s Equality Day, I am recommitted to fighting on behalf of women everywhere, no matter their background, to ensure their rights are always protected.

All the best,

Doris
