Empathy: That’s the value that guides my work.
I’m eager to hear what your guiding value is. Let us know here.

It’s all about the framing. While most political organizations view public service through an ideological or issue-focused lens, we start from a place of values.
You see this firsthand in NPLA’s leadership development programming. Some of the feedback we hear most often is how much participants appreciate a space where party affiliation doesn’t even come up. Rather, every conversation is grounded in the why behind their service; in finding connection in shared values and clarifying whether political office is the best place for them to turn those values into action.
THIS is our secret ingredient. We know that when political aspirations are grounded in core values and a commitment to serve, strong leaders are forged.
All of us have values that drive us to action, both in our work and civic lives. Over the coming weeks, we are going to share the three values that guide us at New Politics – courage, integrity, and empathy – and how those manifest themselves in our daily work.
But for now, since we’re all about serving the people – what values guide you? What brought you to this space? And what kind of principles do you look for in a political candidate? Let me know here.
Thanks in advance for sharing and being on this journey with us.

We support outstanding military veterans and national service leaders, alumni of programs like AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps, to step up and serve our country again, this time through politics. We were proud to be behind the movement of veterans who ran for office for the first time in 2018, and we have big plans to grow into the future.
