96   Democrats Have All But Guaranteed a Red Wave: Part II
Chairman Kyle Hupfer speaks during the Second Congressional District
caucuses. (Aug. 20, 2022)
When the Wall Street Journal and The
Washington Post editorials are saying the same thing, you know you must
be in the wrong.
That's exactly what happened yesterday when their
headlines read:
"[link removed]
utive-coup-joe-biden-debt-forgiveness-white-house-11661378933 The
Half-Trillion Dollar Student-Loan Executive Coup" and
"[link removed]-
forgiveness-mistake/ Biden's student loan announcement is a regressive,
expensive mistake," respectively.
Both editorials were spot on.
As I'm sure you've heard by now, President Joe Biden announced this
week that, with the stroke of a pen, he would cancel $10,000 worth of
student debt for borrowers making up to $125,000 (or couples making up
to $250,000) and also plans to cancel $20,000 for Pell Grant
recipients.
Of course, this isn't a cancellation of debt, but a
transfer of debt onto the backs of working class Hoosiers and Americans
alike. It's worth noting, 87% of Americans don't owe student debt
because they didn't attend school or worked hard to pay back the debt
they owed or chose lower-cost schools.
And don't forget, Washington
Democrats just voted to raise taxes so the wealthy could purchase
cheaper solar panels and electric vehicles.
In my note last week, I
stated that the Democrats' passing of the so-called "Inflation
Reduction Act" was only the latest in a long list of actions that have
all but guaranteed a red wave this November.
We can add this to that
list too.
Enjoy this week’s newsletter and share it with a friend.
Sincerely,
Chairman Kyle Hupfer
  Governor Holcomb's Week
That Was Advancing Innovation, Semiconductor Industry in Taiwan On
Wednesday, Governor Holcomb concluded an economic development trip to
Taipei, fostering economic and academic ties between Indiana and
Taiwan. During the trip, the Gov. Holcomb-led delegation including
Indiana Secretary of Commerce Brad Chambers and Purdue University
officials discussed opportunities for collaboration across industry,
academia and government, and established four new partnerships designed
to advance innovation, high-tech industries and the economy of the
future.
“Indiana’s global economy is growing, with more than 1,050
foreign-owned businesses operating here today, because of our
intentional commitment to developing relationships with partners like
Taiwan,” said Gov. Holcomb. “Taiwan is a world leader in chips and
microelectronics, while Indiana boasts a skilled ecosystem of
engineering talent and innovators. Together, we can advance
discoveries, encourage investment and power the products and solutions
of tomorrow.”
In Taipei, Gov. Holcomb met with Taiwanese government
officials, including Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen; Minister of Foreign
Affairs Jaushieh Wu; and Minister of Economic Affairs Mei-hua Wang; to
strengthen innovation-driven cooperation between Indiana and Taiwan.
On Monday, Gov. Holcomb solidified this commitment in a memorandum of
understanding between the state of Indiana and the Taiwan Ministry of
Economic Affairs, outlining a vision for future collaboration and
establishing a framework to work together to advance academic
cooperation, economic development and investment, and supply chain
resiliency in key sectors, including advanced manufacturing,
agriculture, semiconductors and technology.
Governor Holcomb is
currently in the Republic of Korea and will return to Indiana tomorrow.
Congratulations, Rudy! On Saturday, eligible precinct
committee members of Indiana's Second Congressional District selected
Rudy Yakym to fill the special and general election ballot vacancies
resulting from the passing of Rep. Jackie Walorski.
From Chairman
Kyle Hupfer:
"Congratulations to Rudy Yakym, our Second
Congressional District nominee for both the upcoming special and
general elections. Rudy will be a strong voice for northern Indiana and
continue Jackie Walorski’s legacy of fighting for conservative values
in Washington, D.C."
