Team,
One of the best things about campaigning is meeting voters around the 17th District and hearing about the issues on their hearts and minds. Voters are often excited to meet a candidate in-person -- and many openly share their thoughts on some of the most pressing problems facing our communities.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve had a chance to meet everyday Illinoisans across our district, and I wanted to share a few highlights of our conversations. After all, these are the people I’m running to represent.
In Normal, I heard from a gentleman who was excited to live in a swing district so he could help elect a Democrat who would advocate for gun safety measures – he was “terrified” of his kids going to school.
In Freeport, Beth told me that my weather forecasts had been a “bright spot” in her days for years, and that she was excited to vote for someone who has experience informing the public about matters that affect them directly.
In Galva, I spoke to a couple who identified as Republicans, and were appreciative that I showed up in their small town to engage face-to-face with voters of all stripes. They were glad I was running because I have a track record of delivering the facts, and they wanted to see “less political nonsense and more following the facts.”
I want to thank you for your support so far, friend. Traveling the region is a great way to meet voters, but this race will be too close to rely on our ground game alone. We still need to reach people through mail, billboards, radio, digital, and TV advertising.
If you can, will you chip in $5 to help us communicate with voters in every way possible? Anything you give goes straight to our efforts to reach more undecided voters across IL-17.

Thank you for everything,
