Jack, as we get closer and closer to the midterm elections, Daily Kos has been spending more of our time fundraising for our endorsed candidates and our partner organizations in key states. We are focused on delivering them the resources needed to beat election deniers, protect our democracy and turn out every single Democratic voter in November.

In fact, so far this month alone we have raised $547,935 for Daily Kos-endorsed candidates and our state allies and we aren't done.

However, Daily Kos has a goal to raise $500,000 for our own operating budget this month. We still need to raise $30,946 to reach this goal. Can you help us out by donating $5?

The bulk of our budget goes to paying our staff of over 90 employees; including our staff writers, editors, our advocacy staff, tech staff, our election experts, community supporters, and our administration staff that keeps everything running smoothly. Another big chunk of our budget goes to pay for all the technology that has become the backbone of Daily Kos; our interactive website, tools to help Daily Kos activists take immediate and effective action, and connecting our volunteers with critical campaigns in every corner of the country.

Over the last few years, donations from our readers and activists have become our largest source of funding. This is important because we base our operating budgets off of these goals. When we reach these goals, we can continue to provide the quality of content and activism that have come to be trusted from Daily Kos. When we exceed our goals, we pour those extra resources back into the progressive movement.

Daily Kos doesn't have billionaire backers or a mega-corporate owner, we have you, Jack, and thousands of Daily Kos readers and activists giving just a few bucks at a time to help us do the work we do. Can you help us reach our August goal by donating $5?

Thanks for all you do,
Amanda McKay, Daily Kos
