There is nothing more powerful than a mother’s love.

For Andrea and Cibel, two women from Venezuela, this love found them sacrificing everything to give their children a better life in Colombia.

“The situation in Venezuela is so awful,” says Cibel. “People are dying of hunger. People are eating from the garbage.”
“When you come from another country, people are afraid to receive you, to open their door, to give you a glass of water,” says Andrea. “We were lucky that we have met wonderful neighbors.”

Because of you the IRC was able to provide Andrea and Cibel with health care, emergency assistance and the emotional support they needed to overcome trauma. Their children are able to go to school and get the education they deserve.

We are so grateful to you for all that you do for the IRC and people like Andrea and Cibel. Every gift you make truly matters.

“It is difficult to describe with words how I felt the moment the IRC gave us help,” says Andrea. “I just cried and cried and cried.”

“When I found the IRC, I no longer felt alone,” says Cibel. “I knew there was someone out there looking out for me.”
With your help and the help of like-minded supporters, [name], life slowly stabilized for Cibel and Andrea and they’ve been able to provide a better foundation for their children. Despite the hardships they continue to face, both mothers are relieved to watch their children thrive in school. Andrea’s daughter Isabella is one of the top students in her class and Cibel’s son Matías is also doing well. “He is calmer and behaves well. He already has many friends.”

“My wish is to give my children a good future,” says Andrea.

“That is my priority—that they grow up knowing that we are there for them. When I have moments of despair—and all I want is go to Venezuela to see my mom, to hug my mom—I calm down because I see my children happy here.”

Thanks for all you do for refugee families like these.

Our very best,
