And now we come to find that our students are falling behind dramatically; because of Tim Walz's lockdown distance learning policies and his disregard for funding STUDENTS (not systems), our kids have suffered greatly and test scores are down!
Less than half of Minnesota students are proficient in math and 51% are proficient in reading
The portion of students proficient in math decreased 10% compared to before the lockdowns
Just 41% of Minnesota students are proficient in science, down from 51% in 2019
Just 31% of Black and Hispanic students are proficient in reading. Minnesota remains one of the worst states for racial disparities in education. Our Black and Hispanic students deserve better!
None of this is acceptable, and Tim Walz wants to make sure these statistics don't see the light of day - because they are just another factor voters will have to weigh on election day. We keep throwing money at the problem!
My running mate Matt Birk said it best at the State Fair:
We won't fix this problem by doing the same thing over and over again. Tim Walz and far-left DFL policies are hindering our kids - and Walz continues to insist money is going to fix it! NO - we need structural change.
Next week, we'll be releasing our campaign's education plan for Minnesota! We need to center education around our students again.
Let's tell Tim Walz to FOCUS ON THE ISSUES THAT MATTER!
